London: House Keeping - January 2003

Mum died in her sleep just before Christmas, she would have been 82 on the 26th. I’m so glad I had the chance to see her at Easter, not realising as the time it would be the last. As H has school holidays we flew over last Saturday, got the death certificate on the last day of the year and had the funeral yesterday, today is H’s 50th. Birthday - all a bit much I can say.

Due to H having to be back at school next week, we will have little time to 'scan' the house and it’s contents to see if there were any 'surprises' in store, all we will be able to do in the remaining days is to pack a case with all her paperwork, crown jewels etc., stop all deliveries that we knew about. Redirect all important post to Germany and 'brick up the place' without advertising the fact that the house was going to be empty for an unstipulated time period.

We are thankful that Mum’s neighbour said she would keep an eye on the house and go in every now and then to air it out. We have no idea when we will have the opportunity to get back and start phase two
'The Clear Out'.
